Gilly awarded prestigious national honour by England Netball
GSC's Managing Director Gilly Salter has been presented with an 'Honorary Life Membership' from England Netball to recognise her exceptional service to the sport at a national level.
In addition to running her growing management development and training consultancy, Gilly combines a busy professional life with extensive netball commitments.
She was formally President of Netball South West and has been a longstanding board member of both Netball South West and Active Gloucestershire as well as serving Gloucestershire County Netball on their committee. Now, her decades of devotion to the sport have been recognised by the UK's governing body.
"I was really surprised to hear about the honour and now it has sunk in very proud too!" said Gilly. "Everyone who knows me is fully aware of my love of netball and I love being involved with the game at every level."
Gilly's passion for netball began in the early 80's playing for England and she was selected as the Young England Captain (U23) before moving on to become a Talent & Performance and Premier Club Coach.
As an EN Level 3 Coach, she also holds a diploma in performance coaching and an international assessor accreditation. Since 1988, she has been a head coach of Hucclecote NC and has moved on to coach at every level for her netball county.
For nearly 20 years, Gilly has been spotting talent as a national and regional scout and was an England Talent and Performance Coach for the U17s & U19s in the early 2000s and has led for many years national talent camps in the South West and the West Midlands. Many of the young athletes she has 'spotted' over the years are in or have been in the national England and Wales squads.
In more recent years, Gilly has built international netball relationships with the Inter Gulf States Netball Tournament and Bahrain Netball Club. Her initiative has seen the exchanges of players, coaches and umpires from the South West and beyond - enabling many to experience netball overseas.
Throughout her netball career and as an England selector, Gilly has advocated that netball must be available to all abilities and to young people from every background.
